BBS Utility

I have released a new Flash policy server that works great with Ftelnet. It is for both OS/2 and Win32, is freeware and available from my website at: www.tinysbbs.com.

Hi all,
New door for the bbs-scene.org global onelinerz! I have
a DOS door that will connect using curl to the bbs-scene.org
server's and allow your dos BBS to display / add to them.
Door was hatched out by Sean this morning, but if you want
a direct link you can grab it from http://www.tinysbbs.com
in the "Tiesoft" area of the file section.

PC Micro has updated NetFoss to version 1.02. It was released Jan. 31st, 2010. Short summary from their site:
NetFoss allows DOS based BBS software to be used over a Telnet connection or a COM port under Windows. NetFoss will work with any DOS based software that is `FOSSIL aware', such as BBS programs, BBS doors, and DOS based serial/modem communication terminals. NetFoss can also be used with native Win32 BBS programs, to allow DOS based doors to be run via Telnet. Download from PC Micro.
I've released a new BBS utility today.
It's called PBLOGIT (short for ProBoard Log It!) and is a program to add a line of text to a text-based log file, specifically for adding text to ProBoard's PROBOARD.LOG. The program uses a date/time stamp that is specific to ProBoard but may be used in other applications also. As always, PBLOGIT is freeware.
You can get PBLOGIT.RAR from:
- Web: http://nsbbs.info/cheepware.html
- Crashmail FREQ: FREQ PBLOGIT.RAR from 1:18/200@Fidonet or 618:618/1@Micronet

CHEEPWARE ACQUIRES SABREEDIT
Shawn Highfield, a Cheepware member, has acquired the rights and the source
code to SabreEdit, a full-featured full screen editor BBS door, last developed
by Darrell Harder of SabreTech. Currently the Cheepware team, consisting of
Sean Dennis and Shawn Highfield, is developing a working version of the
software which has been renamed to CheepEdit. CheepEdit will be a freeware
program but will require a free registration key in order to be fully
functional.

Eric Oulashin from Digital Distortion BBS: digdist.bbsindex.com
has certainly provided the community with a huge step forward for some rather bland aspects of synchronet.

FROM USENET:
"For any Synchronet sysops interested in mods, I've created some Synchronet mods that are available for download. The following is the web page for my Synchronet mods:
ZappNews:
Definitely a living work in progress... ZappNews has web output, and is very functional! Current development is in the configuration. All the settings are currently hardcoded, so it's not ready for even a public beta. Also, I intend on having a door editor for the news items and an importer for Syncnews. Where it goes from there really depends on interest generated.
ZappLinerz:
OK, I've officially thrown myself into the fray of BBS Door developers. I have been writing small BBS utilities for quite a long time. Right now, I have 2 pieces of software in the works: ZappLinerz 2 and ZappNewz ... I am looking for a few brave soldiers ... er... sysops to test these doors. More info can be found on the ZappWare Development website @ mentalmeltdown.bbs.us/zwd ... I am working on trying to integrate these utilities with today's technology.

The guys over at aspect have been busy this month! http://www.vadvbbs.com/news/index.php

PC Micro released NetFoss 0.9.7 today.
NetFoss is a Windows FOSSIL driver, which provides both telnet and dialup support to DOS based BBS software and door games. It includes the NET2BBS Telnet Server for Windows, and example configurations are provided for most popular DOS and Win32 software.
This version includes improved support for COM ports, and allows PCBoard to function in wait-for-call mode.
